Socioculturally speaking one of the richest areas in the world the South Caucasus has been the epicenter of several wars throughout history due to its abundant oil and other energy resources. World Powers: Oil has piqued the attention of the United States and the European Union and since the fall of the Soviet Union Azerbaijan and other South Caucasus countries have been able to sell their energy resources to the West. The goal of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan Pipeline Project was to connect Georgia one of the transit nations and Azerbaijan to the West by transporting Azerbaijani oil to the West. Turkey has embraced its role as a member of the Western Block and the backing of the United States. Given that both nations have the same ancestry language religion and culture a strategic alliance is always feasible. The idea of "ethnicity" has contributed to the tighter ties between the two nations. This research touches on the significance of oil in the South Caucasus as well as its influence in international relations. Subsequently the Baku-Tblisi-Ceyhan Pipeline Project case study was used to analyze the energy element in the relationship between Turkey and Azerbaijan. The foreign policies of the two nations have been examined and the project's phases from conception to completion have been assessed from both constructivist and neorealist viewpoints.
