The thinly brushed color and soft outlines in such later works as the "Odalisques" and Bathers of 191819 (a picture that Renoir described as "a springboard for future research") were much admired by younger artists like Bonnard Matisse and Picasso who gravitated to their sensuality and to the fleshy richness of his nudes.
