The purpose of this book is to present representations of marginal women in contemporary theatre to scholars researchers critics students and anyone who is interested in women's studies in the fields of contemporary British and American theatre. This book displays marginalized voices of women in the light of feminist criticism in British and American Theatre. The chapters of this book vary from the analysis of how marginal women are represented women's issues regarding their images status or suppression of women to marginal lives of women creating alternative lifestyles in contrast to patriarchal dominant order through a feminist lens. This book also depicts how historic/mythic characters subvert traditional gender roles to set a feminine identity that does not accord with the patriarchal order. The scholars in each part give voice(s) to marginalized feminine identities by discussing how images and experiences of women and their voices have been effective in the chosen contemporary British and American plays.
