Assoc. Prof. Önder Kocatürk was born in Istanbul in 1976. He graduated from Boğaziçi University Department of History in 1998 with the first rank and honour degree. He completed his master's degree in the same department by writing his Master Thesis titled "Poverty and The Poor in Victorian Britain (1837-1901)". He finished his Ph.D. program at the Istanbul University the Institute of Atatürk's Principles and the History of Reforms in 2010 by writing his Ph.D. Thesis in Turkish entitled "Türk-İngiliz İlişkilerinin Kopuş Sürecinde Son Aşama (1911-1914) [The Last Phase in The Collapse of Turco-British Relations (1911-1914)]". After working as a Research Assistant at the same institute between 2004 and 2013 he became an Assistant Professor in October 2013. On 22 October 2014 he received the title of Associate Professor of Modern History. He is fluent in English and a good command of Ottoman Turkish.
